A VBT is a blood test drawn from a vein, used to accurately measure testosterone levels in the bloodstream. It provides a detailed analysis of your hormonal health as well as other relevant biomarkers that help us to assess which treatment will be most appropriate for you.
Preparation typically includes fasting for 8-12 hours before the test and avoiding strenuous exercise the day before. The test needs to be taken between 7-11am. Speak to our clinicians if you have any concerns.
Two blood tests are required to ensure an accurate diagnosis of low testosterone. The initial test provides a preliminary assessment. Since testosterone levels can naturally fluctuate due to various factors, a second blood test confirms these results. This two-step process minimises the risk of false positives and provides a solid basis for any necessary treatment.
You should receive your blood test results three to five working days after you take your blood sample.
