REPORTS

State of obesity

Every year, Numan surveys the country on how it understands obesity: whether people see it as a disease or a choice, what they make of medications like Wegovy and Mounjaro, and where stigma still shapes the conversation. The report has become a benchmark for tracking how public attitudes are changing.

Our 2025 findings show the first recorded decline in the belief that obesity is a personal choice, down from 57% to 44%, alongside a clear gender divide in how men and women view treatment.

What's next

Shaping the future of digital healthcare

Numan brings its clinical evidence and frontline experience to the questions that the government is trying to answer: how obesity should be treated, how weight loss medication should be supplied safely, and how digital healthcare should be regulated as it becomes part of everyday care.

We contribute formal evidence to the bodies shaping health policy and ground our recommendations and insight in our own research. Our economic modelling with health economists set out what obesity costs the country and how the UK can harness new developments in digital, medical, and pharmacological arenas to help address the health and economic impact of obesity.
