The most common side effects are gastrointestinal, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and constipation. Side effects are reported by a subset of patients and are usually temporary. If they persist, your clinician can adjust your treatment. For a complete list, see the Summary of Product Characteristics at medicines.org.uk.

We know long-term use raises questions. Obesity is a chronic condition, and for many people, ongoing treatment provides the best long-term outcomes. Your clinical team will work with you to make the right decisions for your health, both now and in the future.

All treatment is reviewed by a registered clinician before anything is prescribed. As with any medical programme, there are potential side effects and individual considerations. These will be discussed with you as part of your clinical assessment.
Contact your Numan health coach directly through the app for any questions or concerns. For a serious adverse reaction, contact your GP or call 999. Adverse reactions can also be reported to the MHRA via the Yellow Card scheme.
Some medications can interact with weight loss treatment. Your clinician will review your current medications as part of your assessment and will only prescribe if it is safe and appropriate for you.
National treatment guidelines recommend prescription weight loss medication for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27 or above if you also have a weight-related health condition, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, PCOS, or obstructive sleep apnoea.2.3
You must also be 18 or over and based at a UK delivery address.
However, prescription weight loss medication isn't right for everyone. You won't be eligible if you:2.3
Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy
Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2)
Have a history of pancreatitis
Are under 18
Our clinicians will review your full health history before issuing any prescription. If you're not sure whether you qualify, the eligibility check takes two minutes and gives you a clear answer.
Not everyone will be suitable for a weight management programme, and that's okay. If you're not eligible following your assessment, our team will let you know and may be able to suggest next steps.
Results vary by individual, medication, and how much you engage with coaching and lifestyle support. In our own 90-day study, patients using medication alongside coaching and the app lost an average of 11.3% in 90 days. Meaningful progress is typically visible within the first four to eight weeks. Individual results may vary.
Your programme can be adjusted at any point, though the flexibility available may depend on your package. If your needs or circumstances change, your health coach will work with you to adapt your support, and any clinical changes will be reviewed by our team.
For many people, ongoing treatment provides the best long-term outcomes. Obesity is a chronic condition, and your clinical team will work with you to find the right approach for your health — both now and in the future.
Yes. You can pause or stop at any time. Your health coach can support you through that decision and help you think about what comes next. The choice is always yours.
Your health coach can support you through any changes to your treatment, including stopping. They'll help you set realistic expectations and find an approach that works for your life going forward.
Lifestyle changes can support your results, and your health coach will help you build sustainable habits alongside your treatment. The programme is designed to support you as a whole, not just the medication.
NHS prescriptions are funded by the health service and subject to clinical criteria and availability. Private prescriptions, like those issued through Numan, are funded by you directly, which means faster access and a more personalised programme, without waiting lists.
