Key insights into your heart health

What is testosterone?

Testosterone is a sex hormone that’s vital for men’s health. Produced in the testes, the hormone supports key male functions including sex drive, ability to get and maintain erections, fertility, muscle mass, and mood.

What does the thyroid do?

The thyroid is a gland in your body that produces hormones that regulate the body's metabolism, growth, and development.

Why check for diabetes?

If you have type 2 diabetes, you’re twice as likely to suffer from low testosterone as a man without diabetes*. We test HbA1c, a key indicator of type 2 diabetes, to analyse how this might be impacting your hormone health.

FAQS

Your questions answered

Biomarkers are a range of measurable health indicators. For example, your testosterone reading is a biomarker. If your biomarkers fall outside of the expected levels, it could suggest an underlying issue.

This test is our most comprehensive hormone health blood test, screening 20 biomarkers across all health systems and analysing their impact on your hormone health. The test delivers unrivalled insight into your testosterone levels, which regulate sex drive, mood, and muscle mass, as well as your thyroid health which impacts your weight, energy, and mood.

Each blood test is easy to use, even if you’ve never used a home blood test kit before.

It only takes a small amount of preparation to successfully collect a blood sample and all the equipment you need to do so is included in the kit.

A summary of how to use the tests:

  • Wash your hands in warm water for 4 minutes and then dry them.

  • Use the lancet provided to prick your finger and collect a blood sample.

  • Post your sample to our accredited partner laboratory using the prepaid envelope included with your test.

Full instructions are provided with your test, which you should read thoroughly before use to ensure the best results.

You should receive your blood test results three to five working days after you post your blood samples.

You’ll get an email notifying you that your results have arrived in your Numan account, so keep an eye on your inbox so you don’t miss them. Additionally, you’ll receive a written review of your results from one of our clinicians, which you can read alongside your results to help you understand them.

Once they’re in your account, you can view your results any time you wish. You can also view them in-app and save your results as a PDF to help you keep track of them (and show them to your GP if need be).

Yes. It’s designed to be taken at home and we’ve included detailed instructions to help you through the process. We’ll also break down your results into simple, easy-to-understand language, so you’ll learn where you stand and how you can improve your heart health.

It’s generally a good idea to take your test every few months, although since every patient is different there’s no set timescale. If you’re unsure, you can ask our clinical team.

Each test is a finger prick test, so you may feel a small scratch when you use the lancet provided with it to take a blood sample. This is only temporary, and any discomfort should subside swiftly afterwards.

Small changes to your biomarkers are normal and generally nothing to worry about. However, any significant changes in your health markers should prompt a discussion with a healthcare professional. They can provide context, possible explanations, and guidance.

The test can only indicate rather than diagnose health issues. If you’re worried and suspect you might have an underlying health condition, we advise speaking to your regular doctor first. If you get any unexpected or unusual test results, this should also be flagged and discussed in more detail with your doctor.
