Numan Blood Test

Track key hormone levels

Our Menopause Blood Test can help you identify whether your hormone levels are out of sync, and a clinician's overview of your results may be able to explain if these changes are causing your symptoms. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms for the first time, monitoring hormone replacement therapy (HRT), or want clarity before consulting a professional, this test is a great starting point.

*This may not apply if you don’t have periods due to contraception or a medical condition.

How a Menopause Blood Test can help

Hormonal imbalances

Track changes in key reproductive hormones like oestradiol, FSH, LH, and progesterone to understand whether you’re approaching, in, or past menopause, and how your hormone balance may be contributing to symptoms like hot flushes, mood changes, or irregular cycles.

Vitamin D levels

Vitamin D is crucial for bone strength, immune support, and mood regulation, especially important during and after menopause, when the risk of osteoporosis increases. This test helps you identify if you’re getting enough.

Thyroid function

Thyroid disorders can mimic or mask menopause symptoms. By measuring TSH and Free T4, this test helps identify if fatigue, brain fog, or weight changes are linked to an underlying thyroid issue.

Why should you take a Menopause Blood Test?

For many women, changes like poor sleep, brain fog, mood shifts, or irregular periods can develop gradually, making it hard to pinpoint what’s really going on.1 A Menopause Blood Test can help you make sense of it.

Use it to:

  • Better understand your current hormone profile (including testosterone)

  • Explore whether your symptoms could be linked to changing hormone levels

  • Monitor your hormone levels if you’re already on HRT

  • Have more informed conversations with your GP or a menopause specialist

  • Feel more equipped to address your symptoms and improve your quality of life

FAQS

Your questions answered

A menopause test is a simple-to-use finger-prick blood test which can measure up to 9 markers related to menopause.

An FSH blood test measures the level of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in your blood. FSH is produced by your pituitary gland and plays a role in regulating the menstrual cycle and ovulation in women.

FSH levels can help show how well your ovaries are working. As you get to menopause, your ovaries produce fewer hormones, and your FSH levels rise in response. A high FSH level can be a sign that you’re in perimenopause or have reached menopause.

The Menopause Blood Test checks 9 biomarkers related to menopause and thyroid function - Oestradiol, FSH, LH, Progesterone, Total Testosterone, SHBG, Free T4, TSH, and FAI.

Yes. This test checks TSH and Free T4, which are two key biomarkers of thyroid health. Thyroid problems can sometimes cause symptoms similar to those experienced in menopause, such as tiredness, irregular periods, and weight and mood changes, and so also checking these biomarkers can help to provide a clearer picture of overall hormonal health.

No. A pregnancy test often measures for a hormone called HcG, which is not a biomarker tested using the menopause test.

Menopause test kits, especially those that measure FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), can give you helpful insights, but they’re not a definitive diagnosis on their own.

That’s because hormone levels naturally fluctuate during the perimenopausal years, and can be affected by things like age, contraception, or hormone therapy. For women over 45, guidelines recommend diagnosing menopause based mainly on symptoms and menstrual changes, rather than hormone tests alone.

However, a menopause blood test may still be useful if:

  • You’re between 40–45 and experiencing symptoms

  • You’re under 40, and early menopause or premature ovarian insufficiency is suspected

  • You’re using certain types of contraception (like the progestogen-only pill), and want help understanding where you are in your journey

You can take this test on any day, ideally before 11am which is when your hormone levels are most concentrated.

Fasting is not required for this blood test.

With the finger prick test, you may feel a small prick and the area may be a bit tender afterwards. With the Tasso+ device, you can easily collect blood without pricking your finger. Attach the device to your upper arm and press—it's as simple as that.

Hormonal therapies such as hormonal contraception and hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) can influence your test results. While you can still take the menopause test if you are using these medications, your results may not be accurate. We recommend that you discuss with your healthcare provider to determine if this is right for you
