A VBT is a blood test drawn from a vein, used to accurately measure testosterone levels in the bloodstream. It provides a detailed analysis of your hormonal health as well as other relevant biomarkers that help us to assess which treatment will be most appropriate for you.

Preparation typically includes fasting for 8-12 hours before the test and avoiding strenuous exercise the day before. The test needs to be taken between 7-11am. Speak to our clinicians if you have any concerns.

Two blood tests are required to ensure an accurate diagnosis of low testosterone. The initial test provides a preliminary assessment. Since testosterone levels can naturally fluctuate due to various factors, a second blood test confirms these results. This two-step process minimises the risk of false positives and provides a solid basis for any necessary treatment.

You should receive your blood test results three to five working days after you take your blood sample.

You’ll get an email notifying you when your results are ready. The best way to view them is via the Numan app where you’ll get a simple breakdown of your results, with any biomarkers outside of the normal range clearly highlighted.

Additionally, you’ll receive a written review of your results from one of our clinicians. This will include tailored advice that helps you navigate your next steps and optimise your levels.

You can view your results at any time and save them as a PDF to help you keep track (and show them to your GP if need be).

Common symptoms include erectile dysfunction, fatigue, muscle weakness, depression, and difficulty concentrating. If you experience any of these symptoms, a VBT can help determine whether low testosterone is a contributing cause.

If your initial test suggests low testosterone, one of our doctors will likely recommend a second test to confirm the diagnosis. You'll also discuss potential symptoms and consider if further evaluation or treatment is necessary.

Treatment may include lifestyle changes, hormone replacement therapy, or medication, depending on the severity of your condition and overall health.
