Following a recent article that made incorrect and sensationalist claims about our operational practices, we wanted to set the record straight.

At Numan, "patients first" is our core value, meaning we place the safety and needs of our patients above all other aspects of the business. We take pride in setting the highest standards in our industry for safety, security, and compliance, consistently meeting and exceeding what is required. We take regulatory adherence extremely seriously across the company, and we work continuously with regulatory experts to ensure we are compliant and remain so.

Numan and our distribution partner, Numan Operational Limited (NOL), are regulated by the following bodies in relation to how we provide our services and products to patients:

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

  • The CQC monitors, inspects, and regulates services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety, and publishes its findings, including performance ratings, to help people choose care. The CQC assesses services across five domains: safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness to patients, and quality of leadership.

  • Numan chose to apply for CQC registration at an early stage because we provide the advice and care that surrounds the prescription medicines and diagnostic results we deliver to patients, going far beyond simply sending products.

  • Patients can view Numan's CQC inspection reports and ratings in the public domain. Numan has consistently been rated as Good across all domains, and these ratings have been achieved following multiple in-person inspections that scrutinised our clinical service in detail, ensuring patient safety and quality are embedded across the whole organisation.

  • Patients can therefore be assured that Numan delivers and continues to improve on the highest standards of safe and effective treatment; that we listen and respond to patients' queries and concerns; that we put patients first and care about their experience and outcomes; and that Numan is a well-led organisation that learns from incidents and complaints and acts on them.

Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)

As a marketer and advertiser of healthcare solutions and programmes, Numan is regulated by the MHRA.

  • Numan is fully committed to following MHRA guidance and codes as we strive for advertising compliance.

  • The MHRA authorises the licensing, import, manufacture, and distribution of medications.

  • For Numan's current activities, no licences, inspections, or audits are required.

  • The MHRA sets the requirements for the advertising of medicines. We are unwavering in our commitment to adhering to MHRA guidelines to ensure that all assets and communications are accurate, truthful, and fair.

General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

  • The GPhC is a statutory organisation established by the UK and Scottish Parliaments, independent of government. It is responsible for setting standards for education and training, and for maintaining a legal register of pharmacy premises, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.

  • Pharmacies and pharmacists registered in Great Britain are regulated by the standards and guidance set by the GPhC, designed to ensure that patients receive appropriate, safe, and effective medication that achieves a positive health outcome.

  • As a pharmacy, NOL prioritises patient safety above all else. Adhering to GPhC standards is not just a requirement, it is our ethical obligation.

  • This principle is embedded in NOL's culture. These standards ensure we maintain the highest levels of practice, safeguarding the wellbeing of every individual we serve. By following these regulations diligently, we uphold trust, professionalism, and our fundamental commitment to putting patients first.

  • NOL is registered with and inspected by the GPhC, with premises registration number 9011408.

Registering as a Food Business Operator (FBO)

  • A Food Business Operator is any organisation that sells, prepares, cooks, or distributes food and drink. Registration involves submitting basic business information to the relevant local authority.

  • Registering as an FBO does not result in a licence being issued or withheld, it simply places a company on the appropriate local authority register.

  • Although Numan cannot be considered a food business in the traditional sense, supplements are classified as food products. Our partner, Numan Operational Limited, which procures and delivers our supplements, is therefore registered as a food business operator.

All of these regulatory standards have been consistently met - and exceeded - throughout Numan's trading history. We strive to go the extra mile not only to ensure patient safety but to continuously improve it, and we will continue to do so as we work towards helping millions more people improve their health.
