Testosterone & Cholesterol Test Kit: facts you need to know
Straightforward answers to frequently asked questions.
We also recommend it to anyone who has been taking ED medication for a long while or relies on it to get an erection during most (or all) sexual encounters.
Please keep your GP informed about any medication you’re currently taking and the results of your blood tests.
Note: you do not need to order an Testosterone & Cholesterol Test Kit to receive ED medication from us.
- Wash your hands in warm water for 4 minutes and then dry them.
- Use the lancet provided to prick your finger and collect a blood sample.
- Post your sample to our accredited partner laboratory using the pre-paid envelope included with your Kit.
Full instructions are provided with your Testosterone & Cholesterol Test Kit, which you should read thoroughly before use to ensure the best results. You can also click here to watch an instructional video on how to take a finger-prick blood test.
The clinician will also give you feedback based on the outcome of your test. This will allow you to understand your health on a deeper level and help you make informed lifestyle choices that can benefit your health and well-being.
For example, testosterone and cholesterol - both of which are linked to ED - can only be measured with a blood test. Nowadays, you don’t need to see a doctor in person to have these measured. A blood test kit like the Testosterone & Cholesterol Test Kit can be used to accurately measure them from home, saving you from waiting weeks or even months to have any blood work done with a public healthcare provider.
When you’ve received them you’ll be able to view them any time by logging onto your Numan account.
If you need an immediate ED treatment, you may want to consider trying one of the following erectile dysfunction treatment options:
While a blood test kit is ideal for helping to find a longer term solution to erectile dysfunction, ED tablets such as the ones above can often provide short term relief for those experiencing erectile dysfunction symptoms. They act relatively quickly and help to stimulate erections that are harder and longer-lasting.
However, we highly recommend taking a blood test to help you pin down the root cause of your ED. While ED medications are effective for relieving the symptoms of ED, they don’t necessarily address the underlying causes of ED, so it’s best to perform a health check up with a blood test to help you identify (and effectively manage) the cause of your ED.
If you would prefer a more general health check up, the At-Home Health MOT or At-Home Health MOT (One-Off) would be a more appropriate choice for you.
The At-Home Health MOT is a general health check up that measures a broader range of health indicators than the Testosterone & Cholesterol Test Kit. It’s a home blood test kit (just like the ED Test Kit) that can be used to give you a clearer insight into your health without needing to see a doctor in person. Like the ED Test Kit, it includes a free test result review from a clinician who can give you health and lifestyle advice based on the outcome of your blood test.
How is a home blood test taken?
Taking the at-home test is easy and convenient. Just follow the simple steps below. Full instructions will be included in your test kit.
Before you use the Testosterone & Cholesterol Test Kit
You should set aside around 20 minutes to complete the whole process, especially if it’s your first time using a home blood test kit. It’s also important to stay well hydrated before taking a finger prick test to avoid any fainting or dizziness. We recommend having a normal evening meal the night before you complete the test, and then sips of water in the morning. This will ensure the most accurate results. If you think you might feel faint at the sight of blood, we advise taking the test in a comfortable, safe environment and asking someone to help you take your sample.
How to use the Testosterone & Cholesterol Test Kit
- Wash your hands in warm water for 4 minutes and then dry them.
- Remove the bottle(s) from the labelled holders and remove the coloured lid from the bottle(s) and push them into the groove at the top of the transport container.
- Wipe your chosen finger (one of the middle three is best) with the alcohol wipe and allow it to air dry. Twist off the blue tab from the end of the lancet.
- Place the exposed hole in the lancet on your fingertip, but slightly to one side. Press the lancet against your finger and the blade will prick your finger and return inside the device. Wipe away the first drop of blood with the gauze.
- If you have a purple, green and/or grey bottle, fill them to the 0.5ml line. If you have a yellow bottle, it needs to be as full as possible, ideally to the 0.8ml line. If you can’t fill a bottle all the way then repeat with another finger. The bottle(s) must be inverted several times as soon as possible after filling to ensure the additive in the tube mixes with the blood.
- Once you are done press the gauze provided with the Kit onto the wound. Replace the correct lids on the bottles and push them back into the holders. Place the bottle and holder in the transport container and close the lid.
Sending your blood sample to the lab
- Check the details on the labels are correct and place the transport containers, any used or unused lancets and completed forms in the prepaid coloured return envelope. Do not return the box.
- Remove the seal protection strip and close the coloured envelope. The sample can now be posted for free via any UK post box.
