Getting a health checkup at the doctor’s can be daunting. The thought of long wait times, busy receptionists, and sharp needles tend to put us off seeing the doctor before we’ve even booked the appointment. But dodging health checkups can cause problems, especially if you have an ongoing or underlying condition. This is why we’ve introduced the Complete Blood Test: a general health check up that you can perform in the comfort of your own home - without needing to see a doctor.

What is the Complete Blood Test?

The Complete Blood Test is a home blood test that measures important biomarkers to give you an accurate insight into how well your body's functioning.

It's a finger prick blood test, meaning there are no needles involved, and is easy to use even if you've never taken a home blood test before.

How does it work?

Simply collect a blood sample using the equipment provided with your kit, post it free of charge to our accredited partner lab, and you will receive your results within 3-5 working days. Your results come with a free, written review from one of our clinicians explaining what they mean so you can understand and make the most out of them. Additionally, you can book a one-to-one phone consultation with one of our very own GPs to ask questions about your results and receive expert guidance on how to improve them in the future.

What does it test for?

The Complete Blood Test checks a range of key health indicators to help you understand your health on a deeper level. It gives you precise insights into your:

  • Vitamin levels
Vitamins are involved in many of your body's most vital processes such as healing wounds, making DNA, and supporting your immune system. The test checks your vitamin D levels to tell you if they are normal, or if you should consider taking a supplement such as Vitamin D Boost to support them.

  • Hormone levels
Hormones such as testosterone are important for overall male health and development. Low testosterone levels can cause issues with sex drive (libido), erectile dysfunction, and overall mood.

  • Liver health
The test is able to show you how well your liver is functioning by measuring the levels of certain enzymes and proteins in your blood. The liver performs over 500 functions in the body, including the detoxification of the blood, so it’s a good idea to make sure it’s working as it should.

  • Kidney health
Kidneys help to filter toxins and waste from the blood. It checks to make sure your kidneys are working properly by measuring how well your kidneys are able to filter toxins and waste. It also measures the levels of urea and creatinine in your body, which are two important biomarkers used to assess kidney health.

  • Thyroid health
The thyroid plays an important role in regulating the body’s metabolism. The test looks at the level of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in your body to see if your thyroid is normal, overactive, or underactive.

  • Heart health
Measuring cholesterol levels can be used to understand your current heart health, as well as forecast what your heart health might be like in the future. This is because high cholesterol levels increase the likelihood of developing heart disease. Thankfully, though, catching high cholesterol early with a blood test makes it much easier to control, reduce, and prevent.

  • Diabetes risk
Diabetes is a serious but preventable condition that can be avoided by simply checking your blood sugar levels. The test looks at how high your blood sugar levels have been on average over the past three months to tell you if you're at risk of diabetes.

  • Anaemia risk
Like diabetes, anaemia is a severe but preventable condition. This measures your ferritin (iron), vitamin B12, and folate levels to assess your risk of anaemia. This allows you to keep track of them easily and take the steps needed to improve them if they are deficient.

The numan take

Don’t let uncomfortable doctor visits put you off getting your health checked. The Complete Blood Test is a complete health checkup that you can perform in the safety and comfort of your own home.
