Face it, traditional waffles are unhealthy. The delicious combination of sugar, butter, and even more sugar is guaranteed to make you gain weight fast. However, it’s good to have treats occasionally as diets won’t last if you don't enjoy them.

But what if you could satisfy your cravings without the guilt?

Shona Wilkinson has the solution. Here’s an alternative to pound-packing waffles with a few substitutes - equally tasty but much healthier.

Make dieting less of a chore

There are a lot of diets out there that are restrictive, but they aren’t long-lasting because each bite leads to disappointment. Dreading each meal is a one-way ticket to giving up. These waffles are crispy but fluffy. They’ll melt in your mouth.

Finding healthy habits you enjoy is the key to losing weight. And this is a good start. They could help you unlock the door to a long-lasting diet.

What are the health benefits?

If you indulge in these, you’re more likely to stick to healthier foods throughout the day. View this as the treat and you’re laughing. Due to the few ingredients - eggs, coconut sugar, baking powder, and almond flour - the negative impacts are low. There aren’t enough carbohydrates to max out your blood sugar levels.

These waffles also contain coconut sugar, which is no miracle weight loss solution, but a natural alternative that contains trace amounts of iron, zinc, and calcium.

For added nutritional value, why not add fruit or another protein source like yoghurt? They pair nicely with blueberries, strawberries, and bananas.

Let's see how you can make them.
