Weight loss with Numan: Johanna’s story

Johanna (52) struggled with her weight when she started going through menopause. When dieting led to no success, she turned to Numan’s Weight Loss Programme. We talked to her about her experience so far. 

Can you share a bit about yourself and what prompted you to join Numan's Weight Loss Programme?

I'm a family-oriented person, passionate about animals and crafting. I’m currently experiencing menopause, which has caused me to gain significant weight. I tried dieting and other medications with little or no effect. The start of a new year felt like the right time for a fresh start. 

How has your experience been with our support team? 

I contacted Numan with a question and this was followed up the same day by a clinician. The advice I was given was helpful and explanatory. I also know my health coach would be there to support and advise me on a maintenance programme once I’ve reached my desired weight. I intend to continue eating healthily and remain active after I’ve finished the programme. Any time I’ve contacted Numan, they’ve been so helpful.

What specific goals did you set when you began, and how are you tracking your progress towards them? 

I aim to return to my pre-menopause and pre-COVID weight. Regular tracking through the Numan app has kept me focused on this goal. I’ve already lost a good amount of weight so am well on my way. 

Before starting the programme, how did your weight impact your life? 

My confidence was low. I really feared going out with friends because I thought I’d be judged. The longer I isolated myself the harder it became to socialise. I was trapped in a cycle that I desperately wanted to break. 

Thanks to my improvements so far, I’m starting to go out visiting friends and family. I wouldn’t have done this a month ago. Also, my attitude towards sensible eating and exercise has changed. I’m very conscious of what I eat. 

Could you share any milestones or achievements you've reached since starting with Numan? 

I’m starting to wear clothing that once fitted me and I’m going out more often. I’m gaining confidence daily. My energy levels have also improved significantly. Not only that, but I’m more motivated and sleeping much better. I no longer feel constantly down and I feel positive about the future. 

What advice would you give to someone considering joining Numan's Weight Loss Programme? 

If you’re going through menopause, weight loss is difficult. The programme has helped to suppress my appetite and stopped me from feeling as bloated as I used to.  I’m also more active. I can honestly say it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I can see my weight steadily decreasing and my energy levels increasing. I’ve been so impressed with Numan’s service. They’re efficient, understanding, and always there to help.
