The Numan prescribing process

prescribing-process_001

When you use Numan, you're placing real trust in a healthcare service, and we take that seriously. Every prescription is reviewed by a qualified clinician, governed by independently audited standards, and held to the same regulatory frameworks as NHS-commissioned services.

Why we sometimes say no

Unlike some online services that prioritise sales, Numan's clinical review is a genuine safeguard, not a formality. Our clinicians are trained and professionally obligated to refuse a prescription if it is not safe or appropriate.

If your request is declined, your clinician will explain why and, where appropriate, suggest what to do next. This might include seeing your NHS GP, providing more information, or discussing an alternative treatment. Common clinical reasons a prescription may be declined include:

Regulation and patient safety

Numan operates within a framework of UK healthcare regulation. Here is what that means in practice.

Why your GP should stay informed

When you receive private medical treatment whether through Numan or elsewhere, it's important that your NHS GP is kept in the loop. If your GP isn't aware of a medication prescribed privately, there is a risk of dangerous drug interactions if they prescribe something else later.

With your consent, Numan can send a summary letter to your NHS GP informing them of any treatment you have been prescribed. Your information will never be shared without your explicit agreement.

Request GP notification

You can request that we notify your NHS GP at any time through your Numan account, or by contacting our support team directly.
