Patient stories & outcomes

These are real journeys from real Numan patients. The progress, the setbacks, and the day-to-day of managing your health with clinical support. Not a highlight reel. The full picture.

Why we share patient stories

Health journeys don't follow a straight line. We share these outcomes because first-hand experience, the kind that includes plateaus, side effects, and the reality of long-term management is more useful than a polished before-and-after.

Everything on this page draws from real Numan patients who chose to share their experience with us. Here are two of their stories:

Teresa, 66

Teresa spent her entire adult life trying to lose weight. She'd try all the usual methods, lose a stone, then put two back on. Nothing stuck. When her brother and sister-in-law (a GP) both joined Numan, she trusted their judgement and started the weight loss programme in August 2025.

Within months, it had become the most significant health change of her life. She lost 27kg, dropped four dress sizes, and describes the experience as a complete lifestyle overhaul. Not a quick fix, but a long-term shift in how she eats, moves, and thinks about her health.

Teresa's journey: month by month

Dianne's experience with side effects

Side effects are the first thing most people worry about when starting a weight loss programme. Dianne's experience is a good example of what that early adjustment actually looks like in practice, and how small, practical changes can make the difference.

In the first few weeks, Dianne noticed fatigue. Reading through the knowledge section on the Numan app, she realised she wasn't staying hydrated enough, a common early issue that's easy to miss. From there, she made a series of targeted changes: more whole foods, less alcohol and sugar, and significantly more protein. Within a month, the tiredness had lifted and her energy levels were higher than before she'd started.

How Numan helps you manage side effects

Starting a new medication can feel uncertain. Side effects on GLP-1 treatments are common in the early weeks — fatigue, nausea, reduced appetite, and changes in digestion are the most frequently reported. What makes the difference isn't whether they happen, but how they're managed.

At Numan, you're not left to figure it out alone. Health coaches provide day-to-day guidance, clinicians are available through the app, and the support is layered so that help is always close.

Your health coach

Personal guidance on nutrition, hydration, sleep, and activity tailored to you. Your coach checks in regularly and is available through the app between sessions.

"If I am quiet for a little while, he gets in touch just to see if there's anything he can help with." — Teresa

Clinical backup

Clinician-approved articles on side effects, hydration, and nutrition so you can find answers yourself. You can also message a clinician directly through the app for personalised guidance.

"When I used the Numan app, it became quite apparent that I wasn't staying as hydrated as I needed to." — Dianne

Habits that last

Coaches help you build sustainable changes — increased protein and fibre intake, improved hydration, plate balance, sleep hygiene — designed to outlast the prescription, not just respond to it.

"I've been eating quite purely, being conscious of what I'm eating, staying active." — Teresa

ONE YEAR ON

The 12-month check-in

Weight loss is one part of the picture. What happens after, the habits, the setbacks, the day-to-day of maintaining change, is where the real experience lives. We checked back in with three of our patients a year or more after their journey to hear how things have progressed.

Our service operates under Care Quality Commission oversight, meeting UK standards for safe, effective, and well-led care.

Dual sign-off

Every patient outcome page is curated by the Numan Clinical Team and medically reviewed by a GMC-registered physician.
