How to take
Wegovy 7.2mg

32_Womens-Health_008

The Wegovy 7.2mg pen is a single-use, pre-set pen that contains the same medicine as the other Wegovy pens. Press it against your skin and hold for 5 to 10 seconds. That's the whole pen delivered in one injection.

what you need to know

The simpler injection routine

The method

Four steps, once a week

If you've used Wegovy at a lower dose, you'll remember having to manually attach a needle and dial a dose. The 7.2mg pen does away with all of that. It arrives pre-set, the needle stays hidden until it touches your skin, and the whole pen is used once, then disposed of.

The why

Why the press has to be firm

The needle stays inside the 7.2mg pen and only extends once the pen is pressed firmly against your skin. The yellow bar shows how much of your dose is still to be delivered, so keep steady, firm pressure the whole way through. If you lift too soon, before the bar stops moving, you risk not getting your complete dose.

A small drop of medicine on the skin afterwards can happen occasionally, but a noticeable squirt, or medicine pooling on the skin, means you may not have received the full dose. If that happens, don't inject again. Next time, apply firm, steady pressure throughout the injection to make sure the dose is properly delivered. If it keeps happening, contact your clinical team.

CLINICAL TIPS

Two things to keep in mind

Checking the pen, and what to do if you miss a dose.

05_Weight-Loss--Mounjaro_017

Check the pen before you inject

Don't use it if it looks damaged or already used, if the medicine isn't clear and colourless through the window, or if it's past its expiry date. Small air bubbles are normal and don't affect your dose. If anything else looks off, pause and message your clinical team before injecting. You should take the pen out of the fridge a few minutes before so that it warms to room temperature. This makes the injection less uncomfortable.

Missed a dose?

If it's been 5 days or less since your usual injection day, take it as soon as you remember, then carry on with your regular weekly schedule from that day. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next one on your normal day. Never take two doses within 72 hours of each other.

COMMON MISTAKES

Things to avoid

Small habits can affect how well your injection goes. These are the ones worth watching for:

  • Lifting the pen before the yellow bar stops moving.

  • Twisting the cap off instead of pulling it straight.

  • Injecting into skin that's tender, bruised, scarred, or already used that week.

  • Trying to reuse or refill the pen after it's locked.

  • Storing it loose outside the fridge, or leaving it somewhere warm.

What to expect

What it looks like in practice

And when to get help.

In the hours afterwards, it's normal to notice

Mild redness or a small bump at the site, usually gone within a day or two. A reduction in appetite or early fullness. Mild nausea or gut changes, particularly if you've just stepped up to this dose. These usually ease as your body adjusts.

Get urgent help

Stop your medication and call 111 or go to A&E if you experience: ongoing severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), or signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or difficulty breathing.

Message your Numan clinical team

If something didn't feel right during the injection, you're not sure you got the full dose, you've missed a dose and aren't sure what to do, a side effect isn't settling or is getting worse, or anything else is on your mind. We'd always rather hear from you than not.
