Feed the muscle. Feed the mind.

When you're losing weight, protein has a specific job: it contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass.1 That matters, because weight loss isn't only fat loss. In clinical weight loss studies, including trials of weight loss medicines, roughly a quarter to two fifths of the weight people lost was lean tissue, mostly muscle.2 Protein & Creatine+ is one daily shake with soya protein (25g in vanilla, 22g in chocolate) and 3g of creatine, the daily amount shown to work in studies.1,3

For the mind, there's zinc and vitamin B6. Zinc contributes to normal cognitive function, which is essential for memory, concentration, and thinking. Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.1 Two scoops in a shaker, once a day.

KEY BENEFITS

What it does

Supports cognition

Zinc contributes to normal cognitive function, which is essential for memory, concentration, and thinking.1

Supports muscle maintenance

Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass.1 Useful on a calorie-restricted diet, when you're eating less than usual.

Supports muscle growth

Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass.1 25g in every vanilla serving, 22g in chocolate.

Increases physical performance

Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise.1,3 Think sprints, or sets in the gym. That takes 3g a day, and every serving has it.

Helps reduce tiredness

Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.1 A quarter of your daily reference intake, every serving.

Helps your body use protein

Zinc contributes to normal protein synthesis.1 Protein synthesis is how your body turns the protein you eat into muscle, and repairs it.

Muscle loss and weight loss: what's going on

Why muscle is worth looking after.

NU_IMAGE_113_1x1_master

What is sarcopenia?

Sarcopenia is the medical name for losing muscle and strength as you get older. Adults lose roughly 3 to 8% of their muscle per decade after 30, and it speeds up after 60.4

Less muscle means less strength, fewer calories burned at rest, and a higher risk of falls later in life. Two things slow it down for most people: eating enough protein, and regular strength training.4,5

NU_IMAGE_128_1x1_master

Why weight loss speeds it up

When you lose weight, you don't only lose fat. In clinical weight loss studies, including trials of weight loss medicines, roughly a quarter to two fifths of the weight people lost was lean tissue, mostly muscle.2

Two things make that worse: eating less protein than your muscles need, and skipping strength training. The reverse is true too. People who eat more protein and lift regularly while losing weight tend to keep more of their muscle.2,5

THE FORMULA

Why soya, and why this much creatine?

Most protein powders with creatine start from whey. Ours starts from soya. It's a complete protein, meaning it has all nine essential amino acids, and it scores at the top of the scale for how well your body can digest and use it (a measure called PDCAAS).6 In a 2018 review of nine trials, people who took soya protein while lifting gained just as much muscle and strength as those on animal protein.7

Then the creatine. It takes 3g a day to increase physical performance in short, high-intensity bursts, so that's what's in every serving.1,3

Everything in the pouch is vegan, so there's no whey or casein, and it's sweetened with stevia rather than sugar. There are also two live cultures (friendly bacteria), Lactobacillus fermentum and Bifidobacterium breve, at 250 million CFU each.

INGREDIENTS

What's inside

Everything in the pouch, and what it's there for.

A complete plant protein containing all nine essential amino acids.6 Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass and to the maintenance of muscle mass.1

The most studied form of creatine.8 Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise, and you need 3g a day to get that effect.1,3

Zinc contributes to normal cognitive function, to normal protein synthesis, and to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood.1

Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.1

Each serving has 3.96mg of iron, which is 28% of your daily reference intake.

Chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels.1

Each serving contains Lactobacillus fermentum and Bifidobacterium breve, 250 million CFU of each. CFU (colony-forming units) is a count of live bacteria.

FAQS

Your questions answered

A daily shake with soya protein and 3g of creatine, plus zinc, vitamin B6, and chromium. Chocolate or vanilla, and 100% vegan. It's part of Numan's GLP-1 Companion range.

Vanilla has 25g of protein per 2-scoop serving (34g), chocolate has 22g. Both have 3g of creatine and come in at around 110 kcal. The full breakdown is listed above.

Add 2 scoops (34g) to 350ml of water and shake well. One serving a day.

Any time of day. Creatine builds up in your muscles over a few weeks, so taking it every day matters more than what time you take it.8 It works best alongside strength training, like weights or bodyweight exercises.

Creatine increases physical performance in short, high-intensity bursts, and protein contributes to muscle mass.1 You'll get the most from it if you do some strength training, like weights or bodyweight exercises. Keep taking it on rest days too, because creatine needs to build up in your muscles.

Yes. Protein & Creatine+ is 100% vegan. The protein is soya, so there's no whey or casein.

Most people take creatine without any problems, and it's well tolerated at the 3g a day in this shake.8 Stomach upset has been reported, but mainly at single doses far larger than that.9 Soya is an allergen. Don't take this product if you're allergic to soya.

Anyone with a soya allergy. Creatine isn't suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and the product isn't suitable for children. If you have a kidney condition, take medication, or are due for surgery, speak to your doctor before use.

Creatine is one ingredient, unflavoured, for stirring into whatever you already drink. Protein & Creatine+ puts the same 3g into a flavoured shake with 22 to 25g of protein, zinc, vitamin B6, and chromium. If you already eat plenty of protein, Creatine on its own may be all you need. If you want the protein too, this is the one to go for.

The UK reference intake for adults is 0.75g of protein per kilogram of body weight a day, which works out at around 56g for men and 45g for women.10 When you're eating less overall, that total gets harder to reach, and studies of weight loss diets often use higher intakes, around 1.2 to 1.6g per kilogram.5 One serving of Protein & Creatine+ gives you 25g (vanilla) or 22g (chocolate) towards your daily total.

Each pouch is 1020g and holds 30 servings of 34g, so one pouch is a month's supply if you take it every day.

Contains soya. Do not exceed the recommended stated daily dose. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet and healthy lifestyle.

Creatine is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you are taking medication or due for surgery, consult your healthcare practitioner before use. Stop taking it and consult a doctor if you notice any adverse reactions.

Not suitable for children. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if the seal is damaged or broken. Store in a cool dry place and reseal after each use.
